Quick trip to Washington

My sweet grandma passed away on Monday, November 15. She was 92 years old. It prompted a quick trip up to Washington for the funeral. We decided that since we were driving all that way we would stay for Thanksgiving (and since our friends bailed on us after only a year of planning, but its ok :) Love you Emily!) It turned out to be quite a fun trip. My brothers and sister enjoyed hanging out with their nieces. My sister, I'm sure, got tired of hours of putting makeup on the girlies.

It even happened to snow a couple of inches while we were there. It was so pretty. Curtis loved it too because he got to drive in the snow. There was one night he was at my brothers house and I didn't know if he'd make it home because the roads were bad. Fun times!

We found a small little hill and the girls went sledding for the first time. Kate and Lindsey didn't like it at all - as you can tell from the picture of Lindsey

We spent Thanksgiving with my dad. While we were there, we managed to have a second to pick out and cut down our Christmas tree. Yes, we hauled it 800 miles back home. I could hear Curtis grumbling under his breath the whole time - driving to get the tree and on the way home. So far, the tree is still alive. Yay!

Curtis was so happy to lay down and cut the tree in a big mud puddle . . .

. . .the girls especially enjoyed putting snow balls on dad while he was working hard to cut the tree down.
