The Best Camping Trip Ever!!!!!

Curtis' dream! He has been talking about going to the Rubicon since we've been married. Finally, it came true! We went on the trail with some good friends of ours, Ralph and Karen Jensen. We did the whole thing - 16 miles. It took us two full days. Some of the boulders we went over I thought, how in the world are we going to make it over? But it never ceased to amaze me that we went over it. The only casualty we had, was we left a little paint from the rig on a rock. I say "rock", but I mean "boulder."Ralph let Curtis drive up part of the trail. There were some really tricky parts. He was so excited.

Toward the end of the trail at the overlook. We went trough those mountains behind us.

Ralph and Karen

While we were relaxing in this lake, a snake came swimming up to us. Yes, I was out of the water so fast.

These guys were going through a part of the trail called "little sluice". They ended up not make it through and had to get winched out. But it make for some cool pictures.

We stopped and helped these guys go through the "soup bowl." It was crazy to watch what these rigs will do. He made it through.

Yes, we will be getting one of these rigs. It will be so much fun!

Funny story about this first jeep. He tried to go through this exact same spot last year, but shorted his battery cable because the jeep was hopping so much trying to get up. We told him to follow us and go around this spot. He wanted to conquer it and ended up breaking his rear axle. Dummy! Should have listened to us.

Camping Part 1

We decided to take the kids on a camping trip this year. They had a blast. They were so dirty and loved every second of it.

This was Curtis' position the whole time...just kidding. He did most of the cooking while we were there. This was probably one of the only times he sat down.

Haley, Lindsey and Shannon were the only ones brave enough to go shooting. Lindsey was very happy to have those ear muffs on.

Orton's Angels

Apparently this is Lindsey's version of posing for the picture

I wish I would have taken a picture of the first night. Haley was scared out of her mind that a bear would come to our campsite. And we were not disappointed. Sure enough as soon as we settled into our sleeping bags for the night, we hear a rustling around in one of our containers. Then we hear something walk right by our tent...yep a BEAR! A little scary. Luckily, we keep all our food in our car so he couldn't get to anything.
